How equipment Apps work

Connect your network controller so the AI agent can check a caller’s equipment and restart it, and your team can do the same from Crulon.

Equipment Apps connect Crulon to the system that runs your customers’ equipment, such as routers and ONTs. The AI agent can then check whether a caller’s equipment is online and restart it during the call, and your team can do the same from the equipment’s page in Crulon.

How it fits together

An equipment App doesn’t copy anything into Crulon. Your customers’ equipment comes in from your billing App, Sonar, Splynx or ViSP, with its MAC address, serial number (Splynx brings the MAC address only) and the customer it belongs to. When someone checks or restarts a device, the equipment App asks your controller about it there and then, using those details.

So the billing App needs connecting first, and each device needs the details your equipment App uses to find it, such as its MAC address.

Connect an equipment App

  1. In Build > Apps, choose the App and install it.
  2. Under Device provider setup, enter your controller’s address and the API credentials. Each App’s page says what it needs and where to find it.
  3. Crulon tests the connection. Connection health shows the result and which commands are Ready. Select Test again to check once more.

Credentials are only sent to the address they were saved for. Change the address and you’ll be asked for them again.

Crulon tests each connection again every 8 hours. If no test has passed in the last 24 hours, the Tools that use it aren’t available until one does.

Equipment served

If you install more than one equipment App, each device goes to the App that serves its manufacturer, such as Ubiquiti to UISP and Nokia to Nokia Corteca. Set this under Equipment served. A manufacturer can be served by one App at a time.

The manufacturer comes from your billing App. Equipment from Splynx has no manufacturer in Crulon, so with Splynx, install one equipment App.

What the agent can do on a call

Attach these Tools to the agent under Business Tools. They work on the caller’s own equipment, found from their account.

  • Check device status checks every device on the caller’s account and says whether each is online. Depending on the App it also reads the model, firmware, uptime, signal and when it was last seen.
  • Reboot device restarts one device. If the caller has several, the agent asks which one. Before it restarts anything, the agent is told to say the equipment will be offline for a few minutes and wait for a clear yes.

The caller hears plain sentences, such as “Your equipment is restarting now. It usually takes a minute or two to come back online.” When the controller can’t be reached, the agent says so and can hand the caller to your team.

See Give your agent Tools for adding them.

From Crulon

Open a device from a customer’s Assets tab to check its status or restart it. A restart asks you to confirm first.

Every check and restart is listed under Activity on the App’s page, with who did it, and a restart also appears on the customer’s timeline.
